GF

Having to eat a Gluten Free diet is extremely difficult. I have been sick three times in the last two months. I don't know why I keep taking risks. I need to stop eating food other people prepare and I think I will have to kiss restaurant eating goodbye for a while. Even when an item says it is GF (gluten free) you can never be sure. I know eating food with gluten lowers my immune system and makes it easier for my to catch viruses. This last time I got sick, I think it was because I had eaten gluten and picked up a virus. A stomach virus has been going around and I was the lucky one to catch it this time. My husband seems to be immune to getting sick. Thank goodness for that. He took good care of me, bought me some sprite and cleaned, he did the laundry. I seem to only get really sick every 2 years. So I didn't use any sick days last year, but the year before I thought I was going to die. I was sick for 1 week. Shortly after being sick I was diagnosed with Celiac's disease. The main reason I stayed sick for one whole week, was because I kept eating things with gluten. You wouldn't think soup and crackers would make me feel so miserable. At the time I didn't know about my disease. I was lucky to find out when I did. I just wish more people would think about food allergies when it comes to having chronic health issues. I am still learning to accept the fact that I have Celiac's disease. But when I remember how awful I feel after I get an attack, I am thankful for knowing the source of my misery.
